"Teacher's Paradise" by Ryan Garza

As I walk through the hallway at the day
I take a look at this school and realize it's kinda gay
'Cause I been teachin' and learnin' so long that
Even my pupils think that my mind is gone

But I Ain't ever failed a student that didn't deserve it
Me be treated like a mom, you know that's unheard of
You better watch how you're talkin' and when your walkin'
Or you and your buddies might be sittin in d-hall

I hate to hear you wine about your homework
In the halls behind my back your callin me a jerk, fool
I'm the kinda teacher little students wanna be like
In a book day and night, readin' poems in the candlelight

I been spendin' most my life livin' in a teacher's paradise
Gave d-hall once or twice livin' in a teacher's paradise
We keep spendin' most our lives livin' in a teacher's paradise
We keep spendin' most our lives livin' in a teacher's paradise

It's multiplication they got me facin'
I can't multiply by fives, I was never taught my times
So I gotta be down on the football team
Too much television watchin', got them chasin' dreams

I'm an educated fool with learnin' on my mind
Got a pen in my hand and gleam in my eye
I'm a loco teacher, also a banker
And Mr. Homey is down, so don't arouse my anger, fool

The bell ain't ringin' but heartbeat away
I'm livin' life in the sky, hey what can I say?
They're makin' C's now, but will they ever get an A?
The way things are goin' I don't know

Tell me, why are we
So blind to see
That the ones that learn
Aren't you and me?

I been spendin' most my life livin' in a teacher's paradise
Gave d-hall once or twice livin' in a teacher's paradise
We keep spendin' most our lives livin' in a teacher's paradise
We keep spendin' most our lives livin' in a teacher's paradise

Power and the money
Money and the power
Minute after minute
Hour after hour
Everybody's teachin'
But half of them ain't lookin'
What's goin on in the classroom
But they don't give what's happenin'
They say they gotta learn
But nobody's here to teach 'em
If they can't understand
Then how can they reach me?
I guess they can't
I guess they won't
I guess they front
That's how I know their lives are out of luck, fool

I been spendin' most my life livin' in a teacher's paradise
Gave d-hall once or twice livin' in a teacher's paradise
We keep spendin' most our lives livin' in a teacher's paradise
We keep spendin' most our lives livin' in a teacher's paradise

Tell me, why are we
So blind to see
That the ones that learn
Aren't you and me?

Tell me, why are we
So blind to see
That the ones that learn
Aren't you and me?
